Helping Those In Need
who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
“If I have kept the poor from their desire,
Or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,
Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
When it is in your power to do it.
But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
at this present time your abundance being a supply for their need, so that their abundance also may become a supply for your need, that there may be equality;
Open your mouth for the mute,
For the rights of all the unfortunate.
One who is gracious to a poor man lends to the Lord,
And He will repay him for his good deed.
So then, while we have the opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.
“He pled the cause of the afflicted and needy;
Then it was well.
Is not that what it means to know Me?”
Declares the Lord.
contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality.
If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.
And do not neglect to do good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
and you will be blessed since they do not have the means to repay you; for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”
Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.
For he will deliver the needy when he cries for help,
The afflicted also, and him who has no helper.
Rescue the weak and needy;
Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.
And those who have turned back from following the Lord,
And those who have not sought the Lord or inquired of Him.”
He who steals must steal no longer; but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need.
For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.
In everything, I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
“Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry
And bring the homeless poor into the house;
When you see the naked, to cover him;
And not to hide from your own flesh?
Because I delivered the poor who cried for help,
And the orphan who had no helper.

How blessed is he who considers the helpless;

The Lord is near to all who call upon Him,

So, having obtained help from God, I stand to this day testifying both to small and great, stating nothing but what the Prophets and Moses said was going to take place;
For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you wish you can do good to them; but you do not always have Me.
The Lord sustains all who fall
And raises up all who are bowed down.
Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not just please ourselves.
Make haste to help me,
O Lord, my salvation!
do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.

The Lord helps them and delivers them;
He delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
Because they take refuge in Him.
Honor widows who are widows indeed;

You are my help and my deliverer;
Do not delay, O my God.
But when you give a reception, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind,
having a reputation for good works; and if she has brought up children if she has shown hospitality to strangers if she has washed the saints’ feet if she has assisted those in distress and if she has devoted herself to every good work.
May he vindicate the afflicted of the people,
Save the children of the needy
And crush the oppressor.
The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
