26 Bible Verses About Children

Exodus 20:12 Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

26 Bible Verses About Children
Proverbs 22:6 says to "train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." This truth is reinforced by Psalm 119:11, reminding us that if we hide God's Word in our hearts, it will keep us from sinning against God. So make a wise choice for you and your kids: Start planting the Word of God in your hearts today with these selected Bible verses about children.
Honor, Respect, and Obey Father and Mother
Parents play a critical role in the family representing God to their children. When we teach children to honor and respect their parents, we are teaching them to honor and respect their heavenly Father as well:

Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

Each of you must show great respect for your mother and father, and you must always observe my Sabbath days of rest. I am the Lord your God.

My son, obey your father's commands and don't neglect your mother's instruction.
Proverbs 1:8-9
My child, listen when your father corrects you. Don't neglect your mother's instruction. What you learn from them will crown you with grace and be a chain of honor around your neck.

A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son grief to his mother.

Listen to your father, who gave you life, and don't despise your mother when she is old.

Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. "Honor your father and mother." This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, "things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth."

Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

Godly Examples of the Young
Children can be godly role models at a very young age. Josiah, Jesus, and Timothy were all young examples to other believers:

Josiah was 8 years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem for 31 years. He did what was pleasing in the Lord's sight and followed the example of his ancestor David. He did not turn away from doing what was right.

Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and all the people.

Don't let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.

You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you.

The Value of Family Life
God had something special in mind when he placed us in families. The family unit is God's design and family life is important to Him. When living according to God's ways, children are not a nuisance or a burden, but a gift and a reward.

Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.

My child, if sinners entice you, turn your back on them!

Your word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against You.

Only a fool despises a parent's discipline; whoever learns from correction is wise.

Even children are known by the way they act, whether their conduct puree and her it is right.

Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

Telling lies about others is as harmful as hitting them with an ax, wounding them with a sword r shooting them with a sharp arrow.

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

He called a little child and had him stand among them. And he said: "I tell you the truth unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven."

"See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven."
Matthew 19:14
But Jesus said, "Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children."

One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him. When Jesus saw what was happening, he was angry with his disciples. He said to them, "Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! The Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn't receive the Kingdom of God as a child will never enter it." Then he took the children in his arms and placed his hands on their heads and blessed them.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
